Dr. Kathryn Waldrep
Dr. Waldrep is one of the founding partners of Vernon & Waldrep OB-Gyn Associates (1983). She is a member of several professional societies including Texas Medical Association, Dallas County Medical Society, Southwestern Gynecologic Assembly, American Medical Association, American Women’s Medical Association, and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. As an author she has developed articles for the Dallas Morning News, Vitality Magazine, D Magazine’s Dallas Medical Guide 2000 and the Delta Delta Delta TriDent, and she herself has been the subject of articles in Cosmopolitan, Dallas Women, Dallas Morning News, and Clarity Magazine. She is certified on the robotic da Vinci Surgical System which is designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach. She is very proactive in helping to advance medicine and women’s health and as such is the Owner and Principal Investigator for Practice Research Associates, a ten-year old clinical research firm for women’s health studies.
Dr. Waldrep was elected the first female president of the Medical Staff at Medical City Dallas Hospital in 1993. She has served as President of Ambulatory Surgery Center, Chairman of Department of Surgery, Chairman of Department of OB-Gyn, Chairman of Tissue and Transfusion Committee, and Chairman of Privileges & Credentials Committee. She also served as President of the Southwestern Gynecologic Assembly in 2003. She has served on the boards of the International Women’s Forum Dallas, The Science Place, Council for Life, the Parkland Foundation and is currently serving on the Regional Board for Young Life. She is an active member of Fellowship Bible Church Dallas where she teaches and serves.
In D Magazine, Dr. Waldrep has been routinely voted as one of the best doctors in Dallas by her peers consecutively from 2001 to 2020. In 2005 she received the Profile in Leadership Award at SMU’s 40th Annual Women’s Symposium recognizing her significant contribution to women in the Dallas community. In 2015 Christian Union recognized her as Texas Christian of the Year. Also, Dr. Waldrep has been listed in Super Doctors Texas for three consecutive years. In 2020 she was honored with the SMU Distinguished Alumni Award.
Dr. Waldrep is married to her husband David of 48 years, has three children and five grandchildren. She is quite the executive chef for many and enjoys entertaining, traveling, mentoring, and her bible studies.
